Well, besides being absolutely thrilled that Chaz Davies won his last race with the factory Ducati team, it was incredible to see the passion that went along with that win, as well as the departure of him from the team itself. Seeing the messages the crew wrote on his tank/pit board message/tears and emotions in parc ferme, and the subtle body/facial language from him on the podium were amazing to see. The end of an era from a well liked motorsport fellow is always big. Loved it. Hope he’s picked up to ride again. Thanks for the memories, Chaz.

I agree it was great and a good day for Ducati as well although I'm sad about Chaz leaving the team.

I felt sad, but very happy for him. So many races, we took so many pictures
together, the whole family have met him and the wife is a big fan.
I'm kind of worried about what's next for him.
The way he was sacked (end of season) doesn't give the current line up much
confidence that won't happen to them also, if the results don't come. Take
note Redding.

Ducati and their teams are really making some amazing rider decisions lately huh?

Based on no insider knowledge whatsoever, it does seem to be salary based decision making. Reminds me of rider shopping in fantasy league. The salary cap is the number one factor.
I understand it’s a business, and the less you pay guys that can “sell on Monday” just makes dollars and sense. But Chaz and “Desmo Dovi” have long history’s as brand ambassadors and no paths to stay with the brand just makes us all sad. There is no doubt next season will be a bit less meaningful to Ducati fans like Sandro and his family.
It’s hard to know how tough things are after a year of Covid reality with VW rattling about selling brands again, empty grandstands and sponsors dropping like flies. I’m grateful all the series I love like GP, SBK and AFT all managed to pull off seasons. Sadly there were bound to be casualties.

I hear you. As far as Dovi goes, probably true, but he'll also be making
close to $0 next season at this rate, so maybe he should have caved a bit.
Petrucci can't be that expensive, right? WSBK salaries can't be that much
comparatively either. Kawaski keeps paying Rea and Ducati has had their
biggest sales years in history recently.
Honestly, I think it's cool to see the young crew coming up. Rossi has set
the bar high for retirement and some guys hang on way too long without his
pedigree. To think JLo and Dani started AFTER and retired BEFORE him
(Stoner too, and Nicky was out of GP before his accident).

I read Ducati didn’t make Dovi an offer of any amount.

To play devil's advocate and disclaimer, I like both Dovi and Chaz and wished they had stayed on. But....Chaz has had years to win the championship and hasn't delivered. Mistakes and injuries have cost him his shot a couple of times but he just hasn't done it. And his recent team mates, both Bautista and Redding, showing him up hasn't done him any favors. And with Dovi's recent form, Ducati may well be thinking "at least we made the right decision to not sign Dovi". I think with Dovi there is more downside to up at this point.
Anyway, no discussion on the new desmo-less V4? That's pretty big news, no?

I also read Dovi didn't give them a chance. Fascinating stuff no?

Huge - but only in the Multi V4 right so far? Maybe that's yet another way
they distance their superbikes from the rest of the line? 170HP is pretty
tame by today's standards (although more than mere mortals can use anyway).
Half hoping the prices on V2 Multis come down a bit more - somehow I'm
thinking a 2 for 1 swap back on to a Multi again.
