No more Desmo Dovi? I can’t get it out of my mind this is a tactic (from both sides). But it would be highly unusual for Ducati to make a statement like the one this am if it wasn’t the real plan. And more unusual for a rider to leave over money with no other outside offers. I’m sceptical to say the least. And personally, not excited about the likely return of Lorenzo...
Also. My picks this weekend are like I’m playing bingo. Random names drawn wildly, lol. .
Thoughts?

Looks like it. Ducati Director met with Dovi’s manager and they seem to
have not come to terms.
I guess Dovi’s leverage is that ain’t nobody gonna produce better than
him. I don’t know the salary situation; either Dovi wants more or Ducati
downgraded his salary.
Historically, Dovi is one of the best riders (not just For Ducati) and he’s
still on top. Who’s better than him aside from Marc? He can always get a
ride.
Perhaps he’s riding like shit now due to the contract renewal situation.

How the fuck do they announce that in the middle of a GP?

Yes, but what's that sign?
Rossi did make a "well, that's it" kind of gesture after the crash. Still,
I am amazed how those close to the incident, Rossi especially, can get back
on the bike and go all out in the same spot they just had such a moment.
The speeds those two bikes were carrying as they "raced" back across the
track,....
The racing was pretty exciting without the crash, but, with it, for me,
this rates as one of the most exciting races I have ever seen.
I am reminded of "Truth in 24" when one of the cars does a cartwheel over
another competitor, who only noticed the shadow passing over him, not
realizing at first it was an automobile.
BTW, I am glad I finally broke down and replaced my 20+ year old leathers
with an Alpinestars Tech-Air suit.
Will Dovi and Ducati tear up the divorce papers they just signed?
And, MotoGP/Dorna are doing a pretty good job of putting together an
exciting race season with empty grandstands.
Next weekend?

I don't think the on track experience was the WTF moment, it was watching the replay and that thing is going to get a lot of attention for the next few days. If you are a team manager your probably hoping your rider isn't watching. Moto 2 was pretty scary as well. I've seen a few bad ones in person and cannot watch the replay Jimmy Adamo Daytona, the young gun killed at VIR Cup Race, are 2 that I remember. - Gene

Eaparagaros remind me of Beavis and Butthead.
Did you guys see Pol Espargaro’s reaction?? As if he thought he was

It’s a given that Dovi was going to win the race!
Not even Marquez can beat him in Austria..
As for the other Espargaro, he said that he can be faster than Dovi!
Bwahahah! And that he’s more than welcome at Aprilia to be his teammate.

I hope Dovi wins the championship—not sure if it will be gratifying for
him as his nemesis is OUT.

Okay, Spoiler for sure...... and a long rant about neural processing that
is relevant to the question.
...
I watched the video of multiple camera views. I would love to see the views
from Zarco and Morbidelli's cameras (I assume there was live feed that is
available to someone). I am not an experienced track rider, and have never
raced, so my understanding of rules and edicate are limited. That said, it
looked to me like Zarco was at fault. If you can't leave a margin of time
for the rider behind you to react to a move, you should not make that move
(see next paragraph). When is a pass considered completed, so that the
safety of that pass is no longer the responsibility of the rider passing?
Zarco said "I was braking." Did he mean he was braking as he pulled across
in front of Morbidelli?
I have mentioned this before, but this is a good time to do so again: due
to the varying processing times for the different human senses (sight,
sound, touch,...) there is a delay in our consciously perceiving something.
As far as I know, the debate in the scientific community is whether this
delay is as little as 1/8th of a second or as much as 1/2 a second. This
is not reaction time, this is awareness time - your eyes actually scanned
the words in this email a 1/8th to 1/2 a second before you experienced
reading them. So, if Zarco is braking or off throttle when he pulls
directly in front of an accelerating Morbidelli, Morbidelli will know he is
there at the same time, or shortly after he hits him. There is no way
around this. So, how do we, or can we, regulate MotoGP to account for this?
We are designed to go 15 miles per hour, while MotoGP bikes go well over
200. Hmmm.
And, maybe they need to fix that part of the track, but cannot before next
weekend. Here's hoping for another great race but without cartwheeling or
missile-ing bikes.

So I think it goes like this-awareness, processing, then reaction……… a lot can happen in that span of time, whether the situation involves another bike, a car or a deer. Just ask Jack, Gene, my son and others in the deer’s case. My guess is that they were “aware” of what was going on before “it” happened, but processing and reaction ate up too much time to do much about it. Obviously there are times where there’s just no way you’re going to do anything about it anyway because of the physics involved in getting the bike to do what you might have hoped would/could happen.
Saw Zarco and other’s interviews, but was not able to find a video of Franco’s account of the incident. Would like to hear his take. So glad the whole thing was not 10 times worse than it was……….

As far as I know, the debate in the scientific community is whether this delay is as little as 1/8th of a second or as much as 1/2 a second. This is not reaction time, this is awareness time - your eyes actually scanned the words in this email a 1/8th to 1/2 a second before you experienced reading them. So, if Zarco is braking or off throttle when he pulls directly in front of an accelerating Morbidelli, Morbidelli will know he is there at the same time, or shortly after he hits him. There is no way around this. So, how do we, or can we, regulate MotoGP to account for this? We are designed to go 15 miles per hour, while MotoGP bikes go well over 200. Hmmm.
And, maybe they need to fix that part of the track, but cannot before next weekend. Here's hoping for another great race but without cartwheeling or missile-ing bikes.

OMG
Glad nothing bad happened. That could’ve been lethal..
Eaparagaros remind me of Beavis and Butthead.
Did you guys see Pol Espargaro’s reaction?? As if he thought he was actually going to win the race just because he was leading for a minute..
It’s a given that Dovi was going to win the race!
Not even Marquez can beat him in Austria..
As for the other Espargaro, he said that he can be faster than Dovi! Bwahahah! And that he’s more than welcome at Aprilia to be his teammate.
My ‘dude Rins needs to listen to his bike. He’s fast, but crashes a lot.
I hope Dovi wins the championship—not sure if it will be gratifying for him as his nemesis is OUT.

- Gene

Holy Moly. If Rossi was looking for a sign he needs to look no further.

Looks like it. Ducati Director met with Dovi’s manager and they seem to have not come to terms.
I guess Dovi’s leverage is that ain’t nobody gonna produce better than him. I don’t know the salary situation; either Dovi wants more or Ducati downgraded his salary.
Historically, Dovi is one of the best riders (not just For Ducati) and he’s still on top. Who’s better than him aside from Marc? He can always get a ride.
Perhaps he’s riding like shit now due to the contract renewal situation.

Random names drawn wildly, lol. .
Thoughts?
