How is trashing your tires, so they spit you into the gravel, riding on a
higher level? Managing tires is part of the skill set necessary to be a
winner. Remember when fuel management used to be part of the equation?

I was alternately impressed and depressed with MM's ride Sunday. Anybody
had to be impressed with the way he flew through the rest of the field
after his first get-off, but depressed that he didn't realize he was
burning up his tires so they wouldn't be there at the end of the race,
which is why some of the riders toward the front were so easily overtaken -
they were managing their tires. But looking at the big picture, Marquez is
simply on another, higher level than any other rider racing currently; he
reminds me of Casey Stoner.

before we get to MotoGP)

Okay, I have to start this with a confession: I sold my 900 to a good
friend, which is another story for another post. He just called with a
problem, and I am looking for ideas; of what it might be, or where to
look.
Here's what I know:
There is a slow but significant gas leak which he first spotted coming out
of a cross over tube between the two banked Keihin FCR carbs. He had ridden
the bike earlier today and it ran fine. Now, after sitting in the garage
for a while after today's ride, the gas is dripping from where the Termis
connect to the muffler. At first I was thinking fuel pump, like there was a
cut off that was not working. But, now, I'm thinking overflow tube has
broken or dropped off and is lying inside the tank. My friend is right now
draining the tank and should know if I'm right soon (if he doesn't pass out
from the evaporated gas fumes first).
Any other ideas?
Kevin
BTW, I still have the '85 Alazzurra and the Cucciolo, but otherwise have
gone over to the dark side and bought a Lightning Strike electric
motorcycle. More on that after I adjust to it and thrash it about a bit.

For the leak by the carb I would check the hose going to the fuel inlet.
They will dry out and crack causing a leak especially if it is the original
hose. This happened on my monster with fcr?s . Be careful taking it off the
plastic inlet or you will have to replace the inlet . Ask me how I know.
Not sure where the leak would be coming from by the termis. Good luck

So, it looks like the championship will be handed to either Quartararro,
Dovizioso or Vi?ales.
This might be Rossi?s year!
Anyhow, it?s all their chance to finally win.
Marquez did not deserve that, especially after an amazing ride. I don?t
remember any rider who could ride the same.
I hope it?s not a career ending injury.

There's no indication he trashed his tires. He got exuberant with the
throttle. He was running the ENTIRE field down, outpacing even Dovi by
about 1s per lap. His pace was fierce, and indeed he was riding on a
higher level than the rest of the field. Not saying his race strategy was
the best (obviously), but if you can't respect that performance, fan or
not, you simply confuse me.

KK is on a different level, but I do see his point. Gotta finish the race
to win, even if everyone crashes, so long as the rider finishes first as a
back marker, he/she is absolutely amazing! That’s a Jaw dropping
performance and A real champ in the eyes of KK. That’s what impresses him.

In the end, I think we are all correct. MM is an amazing rider. Even if
there are riders who can go as fast as he does (FQ?), there is no one who
can successfully ride the ragged edge of a motoGP bike like he does.
Sunday, the bike went over that ragged edge twice. The first time Marc made
another phenomenal save (I will never tire of watching his saves); the
second time he could not. Fabio won the race by being fast and never having
to go to that edge. If Marc had caught up with FQ, either FQ would have
needed to push harder and take bigger chances, or MM would have passed him
like everyone else. Does Rabio have that in him?
I look forward to that race, hopefully soon.

El diablo will not have a choice, but to fight. Can he fight as good as
MM93? Well, he did try last year, but he wasn't on the same level. We’ll
see how fast he learns this year. Another way is for him to completely
avoid fighting and just haul ass like Lorenzo and Stoner used to do.
I think Lorenzo/Stoner got very upset when someone like Rossi/MM93 roughed
‘em up. They both all of a sudden became vegans.
Anyway, I’m a little disappointed now because we might not see a full
Marquez vs Fabio Duel.
But then, we’ll see how tough Marquez really is. This is his real
challenge; To defeat them all while not 100% fit.

Pags, MM needs no defence. His presence on the podium this weekend will do
all his talking for him. Pins in the bone, brace on the wrist, as many
anti-inflammatories and painkillers as can be managed, and he's good to go.
Correction: I just saw the photograph of MM with his arm wrapped and
braced. I am downgrading my prediction to only a 65% chance of competing
this weekend and a 70% chance of being on the podium if he does.
Oh, wait. I almost forgot.
I'm not a fan of Marquez (and that's the absolutely last time for this
joke,... probably)

I think Lorenzo/Stoner got very upset when someone like Rossi/MM93
roughed
‘em up. They both all of a sudden became vegans.
Anyway, I’m a little disappointed now because we might not see a full
Marquez vs Fabio Duel.
But then, we’ll see how tough Marquez really is. This is his real
challenge; To defeat them all while not 100% fit.

In the end, I think we are all correct. MM is an amazing rider. Even if
there are riders who can go as fast as he does (FQ?), there is no one
who
can successfully ride the ragged edge of a motoGP bike like he does.
Sunday, the bike went over that ragged edge twice. The first time Marc
made
another phenomenal save (I will never tire of watching his saves); the
second time he could not. Fabio won the race by being fast and never
having
to go to that edge. If Marc had caught up with FQ, either FQ would have
needed to push harder and take bigger chances, or MM would have passed
him
like everyone else. Does Rabio have that in him?
I look forward to that race, hopefully soon.

LOL. I'm no fan of Marquez (because just saying it annoys Lan), but he'll
be missed. I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell he's racing
this weekend even though there's no nerve damage. Honda has indicated
they're in no rush.

I'm not a fan of Marquez (and that's the absolutely last time for this
joke,... probably)
Kevin
I read he’s not expected to race this weekend but being MM... he sort of reminds me of that knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It’s always a mere flesh wound. Remember that time he flew off face first at like, 180, slid FOREVER and got up with gravel all stuck in his face. Lol, mere flesh wounds. He raced.
