Motogp 2022?

Greetings

I was just wondering after this weekend Motogp excitement and making headlines of how poor the track conditions are on COTA.
Has anyone heard of a possible 2022 event? A mean COTA is already selling presale tickets but that doesn’t mean anything.

Hope you all had great weekend and for all those that attended the race.

Hi Bob

Yes I’m aware COTA is on schedule however, the riders made it clear to COTA this past weekend. If COTA don’t fix the track, they won’t come next year.

Oh, ok. We were at COTA this weekend and the talk was, yes, the riders
complained but not all agreed to boycott.

It was explained to us that it's the soil causing the issues. It doesn't
really compact well and expands when it gets wet. Then contracts when it
dries out. It rained a lot in the weeks prior to COTA this year.

Don't know what will happen in 2022.

During the broadcast on Motogp.com,  I heard them say that if the track wasn’t fixed they wouldn’t be back. So for them to have it ready for April, they have to get going on the resurfacing in the not too distant future I would think. Fingers crossed. Gregg

Definitely some bumps, coming down the hill from turn 1 into 2 there were several that went down after hitting that bump not sure about other sections of the track.

There is another bump on the straight after turn 2 but it did not seem to be a problem, but then I'm just some old dude that did track days, so on a GP machine it also might be a problem. - Gene

Hi Gregg

I wonder what F1 will say about the track?

I really hope COTA fixes the track and we can have MotoGP 2022.

I'm doing a track day at COTA in November.  All this talk about a bumpy, dangerous track was scaring me until I realized I will be going about 1/3rd of the Moto3 pace.  And that's me full blast! hahahaha... I think I'll be ok.  I'm still a little nervous as I haven't been on a track since 2001 and that was at Blackhawk Farms, not exactly a high speed circuit.

I'll report my impressions here after my track day.

BTW, I'll be doing it on my beloved 1996 900SS/CR.

Mario

I'm doing a track day at COTA in November. All this talk about a bumpy, dangerous track was scaring me until I realized I will be going about 1/3rd of the Moto3 pace. And that's me full blast! hahahaha... I think I'll be ok. I'm still a little nervous as I haven't been on a track since 2001 and that was at Blackhawk Farms, not exactly a high speed circuit. I'll report my impressions here after my track day. BTW, I'll be doing it on my beloved 1996 900SS/CR. Mario, that generation of Ducati is an excellent track day tool.  Light and
not something that will over power you but enough to have fun.  One thing
to watch out for is the exhaust collector under the motor.  Where the piped
exit to the side and then head to the rear of the bike can be a clearance
issue.  If you hit it hard enough you can lift the rear wheel off the
ground.  Ask me how I know. 😱🏍  Fortunately after much excitement I did
not go down but I got those pipes shortened right after that and added a
shock from the next series SS which is about a half inch longer.  You can
see how little clearance there is in this photo.
